What is FYRIS?

The Freshman Year Research Intensive Sequence (FYRIS) is a program designed to provide freshmen with course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs). Students first enroll in the Research Foundation Course (RFC) and in the first section of a Research Driven Course (RDC). The sequence allows undergraduate students to obtain real-world research experience in a field of interest related to their majors and generate data for the research agendas of the lead faculty who guide the courses. Courses are funded by several sources including the National Institutes of Health (BUILD) and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (PERSIST).
